Bah synthesizes a variety of performing arts, including shadow puppetry and oral storytelling, into an immersive digital animation dramatizing multicultural flood myths. The global stories from eight regions meet on a rising Turtle Island, to inspire, instruct and implore mortals to care for one another and preserve Mother Earth.
Blending traditional Indonesian wayang puppetry with digital animation, environmental sounds, and the voices of multicultural storytellers, Bah draws listeners into a transcultural, transhistorical narrative.
The work reflects the journeys of migrants carrying rich cultural legacies, seeking hope across uncertain paths. Featuring nine female storytellers from diverse backgrounds portraying male heroes, Bah becomes an ark that preserves the emotional and transformative experiences of migration while amplifying minority voices.
